Dan Buan founded Buan Consulting in 2000 with a focused mindset: do one thing and do it well.
From Humble Beginnings to Globe-Trotting
Having intimate technical knowledge of Autonomy’s knowledge management products, Dan identified a specialized need in the marketplace. Corporate users were requiring additional training and professional services, and Dan’s deep product acumen well-suited him for the task. Out of his “basement” office in his Annapolis, Maryland home, his talents soon become highly demanded.
It wasn’t long before Autonomy recognized Dan’s successes and appointed him as the singular training resource for the entire Mid-Atlantic. And Buan Consulting’s staff grew. As did the opportunities. Buan Consulting was soon conducting training globally for companies in South Korea, Canada and New Zealand.
Buan Consulting’s offerings grew to encompass design, implementation, mentoring and fully custom-built solutions—partnering with leading law firms (commercial sector) and federal agencies (public sector). Buan Consulting was awarded large-scale programs with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Homeland Security and AOL, as well as a GSA Schedule 70 and GSA STARS Contract.

In 2006, Dan recognized the power of Salesforce – the San Francisco-based enterprise cloud computing company – and soon became a partner to offer “software as a service” to its clients. As a registered Silver Cloud Alliance Partner with Salesforce.com today, Buan Consulting has led major implementations and upgrades for government and commercial clients across North America.
Since then, Buan Consulting’s customer roster has grown to include large-scale organizations from private and public sectors alike, such as CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services), the DOI and DOJ, as well as commercial clients such as Stanley Black and Decker and McCormick.
Buan Consulting was ranked by Washington Technology as one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the Washington area and one of the “Greatest Places to Work” by Corridor Magazine. In March 2007, Dan was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce – an award that recognizes business people who demonstrate leadership and tenacity, innovative thinking, marketing, selling and management.
